The Smawthorne area has busy roads and being long roads encourage a minority of drivers  who drive too fast for the streets. Pedestrians, especially the elderly and children, try to cross in peril.

This petition, followingo n from concern from residents, calls for a 20 mph speed limit in the area and a pedestrian crossing on Smawthorne Lane near the shops.
